Anti-Fatigue Mats

Hard floors and long shifts are the perfect combination for aching muscles and low productivity levels amongst many industries. Prolonged standing can lead to back pain, aching legs, pins and needles, constant shifting, and strained joints – but with the right surface, these can all be a thing of the past.

Anti-fatigue matting creates a flexible barrier between your worker’s feet and the hard floor, making standing safer and far more comfortable.

  • Will the matting be used in a dry or wet area?
  • Does the matting need to cover a larger work environment or a fixed workstation?
  • Will the matting be exposed to potentially harmful liquids (like chemicals or oil)?
  • Are ramped or bevelled edges required?

FAQs

Expand All
How do anti-fatigue mats work?

They provide a cushioned yet supporting surface between your feet and the hard floor, which lets your muscles flex and move naturally. This keeps your blood flowing freely, preventing cramps and fatigue from occurring.

How long do anti-fatigue mats last?

This will depend on the traffic level, intended application of the mat, and the area it has been placed in. We have seen some last longer than 15 years – and they’re still providing comfort to people who need to stand for long periods of time.

How often should anti-fatigue mats be replaced?

You should expect to get many years of use from a good quality mat. Wear is a better indicator of replacement than time – look for holes, dents, and general misshapenness in your mat, and replace it when you notice these occurring.

How do I clean anti-fatigue matting?

When used in dry areas, all you need to do is sweep, vacuum or blow them to keep them clean. Stains or marks can be spot cleaned with a diluted detergent. A mat with holes is more difficult to clean – these generally need to be taken up and hosed and swept down.

How thick should an anti-fatigue mat be?

The ideal thickness will depend on the application, although 14mm is usually sufficient for most. Thicker matting should feature a bevelled or ramped edge to prevent tripping. Mats for wet areas are also likely to be thinner to allow for drainage.
